Frequently Asked Questions
First…what is the difference between a travel agent and a travel advisor?
1
While most people use these terms interchangeably, there ARE important distinctions. A travel agent handles traditional, transactional bookings, whereas a travel advisor adopts a consultative, expert role. A travel agent sells you a trip. A travel advisor designs your experience. At TerraPath, we prefer the term “curator of authentic and exclusive global experiences” which reflects what we do.
What do you mean by “design my experience”?
2
We engage in a discovery process that explores your travel style (for example, are you an early riser or night owl, structured or spontaneous, etc), your interests (foodie, adventurer, culture buff, or relaxation seeker), your comfort level (budget, fitness, dietary needs, accommodation preferences), and the specific details of this trip (occasion, must-dos, travel companions). Based on all these answers, we craft a personalized blueprint where every element is intentionally chosen for you.
Does it cost to use your services?
3
For trips beyond a straightforward reservation, we charge a planning fee. It covers tailored research, design, and coordination - from flights and hotels to experiences, pacing, and logistics. Fees vary with itinerary complexity and are discussed upfront.
After a free initial consultation, we’ll provide a clear design-fee quote (fees start at $25 and can exceed $500 for highly complex itineraries). You can decide if our services fit your travel needs..
Do you work with solo travelers?
4
We have many solo travelers among our clients. We’d be happy to create your custom trip with a private guide or driver, small-group tours, or completely on your own if you prefer.
Do you work with groups?
5
Yes! We love working with groups. We can add real value to a group trip by coordinating needs, budgets, and logistics while tailoring experiences for all members.
Do you work with cruisers?
6
Absolutely. The mega-ships are incredible feats of engineering with tons to do onboard, and they're a perfect fit for a lot of people looking for a resort-style vacation.
However, the smaller ships and river cruises focus on the experience you'll have both on the ship and, more importantly, off of it. Smaller vessels are preferred if you are most interested in the destinations themselves, like exploring local cultures, history, and hidden gems.

Am I a good fit to work with you?
I collaborate best with travelers who appreciate deliberate planning, good communication, and seamless specifics. If you are looking for the absolute best price, prefer to plan every detail yourself, or plan to use travel points, we may not be the best fit. If you want a well-considered plan and a reliable partner to steer the process, we’re likely a great match.
